This is a remote position but must be available to work 9 am - 5 pm in the Eastern Time Zone.
Position Overview
The Growing Justice Fund seeks a talented and motivated Operations & Communications Coordinator to help advance equitable food systems through strategic communications and operational support. This role is critical for executing our communications strategy, managing a CRM system, supporting grantees with media connections, providing technical assistance to fund applicants, and coordinating logistics for in-person and virtual events. The Coordinator will play a key role in enhancing the Fund’s capacity to share impactful stories, support stakeholders, and build strong internal and external relationships. Growing Justice is a fiscally sponsored fund of the Amalgamated Charitable Foundation.
Key Responsibilities
- CRM Development and Management
- Set up and maintain a CRM system to organize contacts, streamline communication, and support targeted outreach.
- Ensure accurate data entry, manage list segmentation, and update records to support engagement and outreach goals.
- Track and analyze engagement data within the CRM to refine communication strategies and improve relationship-building.
- Public Media Outreach and Management
- Create and schedule engaging social media content, including posts, images, and videos, while tracking analytics to refine strategies.
- Monitor community engagement, respond to interactions, and optimize outreach based on performance data.
- Connect media outlets with grantees when appropriate, promoting their stories and the impact of the Fund.
- Lead media outreach efforts, including drafting press releases, managing media lists, and liaising with media contacts.
- Ensure Growing Justice remains visible and accessible across relevant networks.
- Grantee Collaboration and Storytelling
- Work closely with grantees to gather impactful stories and content (blogs, interviews, videos).
- Support grantees in promoting their work across media channels and highlight their contributions to equitable food systems.
- Collaborate on developing tools and metrics to make informed decisions about grant allocations and areas of strategic focus.
- Content Creation and Design
- Produce visually appealing communication materials (e.g., one-pagers, infographics) for funders, partners, and internal use.
- Develop impact reports, presentations, and other branded collateral.
- Write, design, and distribute newsletters to stakeholders, including funders and grantees.
- Craft email marketing campaigns to promote new grant cycles, events, and organizational updates.
Event and Operational Support
- Provide logistical support for two in-person board retreats annually within the U.S.
- Assist in planning the 2025 funder convening, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
- Support key staff, the Advisory Committee, and funders by developing educational and learning opportunities that advance Growing Justice’s mission.
- Engage in ad hoc operations tasks to ensure seamless functioning across the organizational workplan.
- Provide correspondence and technical assistance to interested fund applicants.
- Support eligibility review of grant applications and assist in responding to applicant inquiries.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in social media management, digital communications, content creation, and CRM systems.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and visual storytelling skills with a strong eye for detail.
- Proficiency with design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar).
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a virtual environment.
- Ability to work with a remote team, including regular computer, phone, internet, and video conferencing access.
Preferred Qualifications
- A passion for sharing impactful stories and a creative mindset for engaging with the public.
- Familiarity with nonprofit messaging techniques and an interest in developing communications skills further.
- Experience with or a commitment to promoting food justice, equity, and sustainability.
