JOB OVERVIEW:
The Amalgamated Charitable Foundation is seeking a mission-driven Manager of IT and Systems to support the development and execution of the organization’s technological, systems, and cyber security work streams. The IT Manager should bring a dedication to excellent customer service, familiarity with ACF core systems, and an ability to manage a strong cyber-security posture. The role requires a collaborative, problem-solving approach to their work and a dedication to improving and iterating processes and procedures. This role is unique in that it also is a client facing role supporting the work of ACF’s partners and mission focused projects.
The Manager of IT and Systems will be technically proficient in systems administration and project management, policy, and planning. The work involves the implementation and support of information technology products, services, and systems, constrained by the relationships among scope, resources, and time. The Manager of IT works with the Director to manage both the day-to-day needs of the organization as well as critical, highly complex projects that involve major enhancements across the organization.
The Manager should demonstrate competencies spanning strategic, operational, and relational dimensions. They should excel in strong and effective communications, system optimization, creating stakeholder buy-in, effective prioritization, driving results, documentation, and reporting.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Platform & Systems Execution
Manage execution of Microsoft 365 initiatives, including Entra, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Purview retention, identity, and security controls
Support NetSuite implementation through integrations, data readiness and migration, and post-go-live stabilization
Support future CRM, HRIS and BI implementations
Collaborate with teams to optimize existing workflows in internal systems including, but not limited to, Monday.com, HubSpot and AirTable
Security & Compliance Operations
In collaboration with the Director of IT and Systems, implement and manage security enhancements in partnership with the MSP
Manage Microsoft Secure Score improvement project and efforts
Coordinate staff and fund-level security training, delivery and develop and deliver foundation-specific content and training.
Develop and manage access review process, SharePoint permission audits, and SSO integrations and create necessary documentation and reports
Vendor & SaaS Management
Manage day-to-day relationships with SaaS vendors and service providers
Track renewals, usage, and contract alignment with organizational needs
Coordinate and maintain integrations (e.g., DocuSign, HubSpot, identity providers)
Service Delivery & Enablement
Provide escalation support for MSP team, and closely monitor MSP support process
Deliver reliable IT services to staff and affiliated funds, including coordinating onboarding and offboarding of employees in alignment with ACF policies in close collaboration with the People and Culture team
Manage the development of a managed IT service model for funds in collaboration with key stakeholders and support operationalization of service model
Manage device procurement, inventory and asset lifecycle
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Organizational Effectiveness, Finance, HR, Legal, and Program teams to ensure technology supports organizational goals
Provide clear status updates and risk flags to the IT Director
Develop SOPs and document relevant and necessary processes
Support change management and communications for major technology changes
QUALIFICATIONS:
Technical & Platform Skills
Strong experience with Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, OneDrive, Entra, Purview, InTune)
Working knowledge of SaaS ecosystems and identity (SSO, MFA, access control)
Familiarity with security frameworks and managed security partnerships
Experience supporting ERP, CRM, HRIS or other system implementations (NetSuite experience a plus)
Operational & Management Skills
Proven ability to manage vendors and MSPs
Proactive, hand-on approach to projects and execution
Strong documentation and communication skills
Ability to balance security, usability, and resource constraints
EXPERIENCE PROFILE:
Deep dedication to the ACF Mission
5–8+ years in IT operations, systems administration, or IT management
Deep people-first ethos driving communication, project management and pristine client servicing.
Experience in nonprofit, foundation, or mission-driven environments strongly preferred
Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and build deep and trusted relationships
Demonstrated ability to work in lean teams with high accountability
Ability to create and deliver engaging IT, cyber security, and systems trainings
Excellent customer service skills and dedication to continual improvement
Ability to work joyfully in remote and growing organizations
Ability to think creatively and pitch novel ideas to solve complex problems.
Enjoys developing and conducting how-to sessions for non-technical staff and constantly finding fun and innovative ways to engage with staff.
Good judgment and decision-making skills with the ability to escalate concerns/challenges appropriately and in a timely manner
Proactive problem solver and enjoys troubleshooting to surface solutions to achieve desired outcome
SALARY & BENEFITS:
The starting salary for this position is $100,000 and is commensurate with experience. This position is a remote and a U.S. based role. The role will require domestic travel, as needed, including the Foundation’s retreats and in-person meetings as necessary.
